If you’re looking for some NO PREP Blending & Rimes Fluency Games to help your learners practice fluency with digraphs, blends, and rimes.

One important part of fluent reading is automaticity, or the ability to recognize words {or even parts of words} without a lot of effort or time needed.

And that’s the part of fluency these games are working towards…the ability to recognize parts of words quickly.

 

Blending & Rimes Fluency Games

No one loves drilling and killing a love of learning with boring worksheets. That’s why I’ve hidden the drills behind the face of a game. Come on now. You know you’ve used this trick before, too!

Instead of playing these no prep blending and rimes fluency games as learners would usually play a regular board game {rolling a die, moving to a space, and “reading” the one word part in that space}, learners go back to “Start” and “read” ALL the spaces until they get to the space they landed on each time they roll! {See the blend game above.}

This gives learners much more practice with blending simple two-letter word parts together.

These games are for 1-4 players, although I would recommend aiming towards less players instead of more so they get more time playing and practicing fluency with blending.
