Description

Did you know that left-handed learners have different needs than right-handed learners. Yes, they do!

If you teach a left-handed learner, you know that handwriting can be a challenge. To top it off, it can be difficult to find resources that are geared towards left-handed writers. Until now.

Today, I’m sharing our left-handed number handwriting pages!

Left-Handed Number Handwriting Pages

On these simple pages, you’ll find an example at the top with letter strokes and a reminder image of how to tilt the paper. Also included are circles in ten frames that they can color in to help with number awareness.

Four lines are on each page to practice each number (0-30). The top line has only tracing numbers, while the subsequent lines require learners to write the number more on the own.

You might be wondering how these number handwriting pages are different from handwriting pages for right-handed learners. I’m so glad you asked!

1. The handwriting example is at the top RIGHT of the page.

Often, the example(s) are on the top left of a page, which means left-handed learners sometimes cover up the example with their hand when they are writing.

2. At the top right on each page, there’s an image to remind left-handed writers to tilt their paper, with the left corner pointing up, which is the opposite way that right-handed learners tilt their paper.

3. The handwriting strokes for some of the numbers are different.
After doing a bit of research with a few OTs and asking some left-handed people I personally know (adults and kids), three numbers can have a different beginning stroke pattern. Numbers 0, 5, and 8 are often started differently than right-handed learners.

Note: Not all left-handed people write the 0 and 8 differently, so I’ve included two different options for both numbers.

4. The examples on the actual writing lines are to the right of the practice area. When a leftie has the example on the left side of the paper, his/her hand often covers up the example, so all the examples are on the right.
