Played like the board game, “Chutes & Ladders,” this game pack gets kids reading longer words either with affixes or words that contain the six syllable types.
There are TEN GAMES included in this pack. What’s included?
- Inflected Endings ~ Including es, ing, and ed (Only the ed that adds a syllable to the word as in wanted.)
- Common Suffixes Game ~ This includes the suffixes er, est, ful, less, ness, ly, and y.
- Common Prefixes Game ~ Including mis, pre, pre, un, dis, in, and non.
- Affixes Review Game ~ A review of the inflected endings, common suffixes, and prefixes from Games 1-3.
- Open/Closed Syllable Words Game ~ Includes words from the closed VC/CV pattern as well as the open V/CV pattern.
- CVCe/R-Controlled Syllables Word Game ~ This includes r-controlled syllables in either syllable (or both) and CVCe syllables in either syllable.
- Long Vowel Team Syllables Game ~ This includes ai, ay, ee, ea, igh, oa, ow, and oo.
- Diphthongs/Complex Vowel Team Syllables Game ~ The vowel teams included are au, aw, oi, oy, ou, ow, and “short” oo.
- Final Stable Syllables Game ~ This game includes words with the consonant + le pattern.
- 6 Syllable Types Review + V-V Syllables Game ~ This review game includes all six syllable types plus the V-V syllable type found in words such as lion and poet.
All ten games come in color, blackline, and formatted for Google Slides.
To play, each player needs a small counter or manipulative. When it’s their turn, they roll a die
and move that many spaces. They read the word in the space they landed on. If they land on a ladder, they can climb up and read the word. If they land on a slide, they must slide down and read the word.
